Blessed with abundant amazing landscapes, majestic mountains, luminous gushes, and heavy woodland, Tripura is one of the earliest regal states of ancient India at the paw of the Himalayan mountains in Northern-East of India.

At present, Tripura is India’s third-smallest and pollution-free state with an elegant touch of history & heritage of the domes & architecture having a princely flavor within them. The place showcases a fascinating fusion of tribal tradition and the Bengali urbanity.

History

The conception of Tripura has been written up in Hindu Puranas, Mahabharata, and the decretum of King Asoka. On 1 July 1963, Tripura was identified as Union Territory, however, the full-fledged status of state was bestowed to the place on 21 January 1972.

Places to visit

Agartala

Agartala is the capital of Tripura and the second-largest city in Northeast of India, Guwahati is the largest. Initial homeland to the Manikya Kings, Agartala showcases an ideal integration of unrefined charm and the mixed bag of culture. The terrains of the city contribute to a mesmerizing haven it creates with green pastures, dazzling valleys, and highlands.

Kailashahar

Kailashahar is the historical capital of Tripura and a present-day tourist spot situated near the frontiers of Bangladesh. It is talked about for its beautiful temples and is also a recognized trekking town with 16 tea estates, splendid landscapes, and grand Greenlands. Durga puja is the major celebration of the region that festoons the town with fanciful & hue full lights and pandals of Goddess Durga.

Tourist attractions: Lakhi Narayan Bari, Chouddo Devotar Mandir, Tea Estates, Unokotiswara Kal Bhairava, Khowara Lake, Ramakrishna Mission Temple.

Unakoti

Unakoti is an imminent Shaivite site for the Hindus pilgrims. Among the abundant rock-carved figures on the exterior of the hill, the zone boasts the most mesmerizing 30 ft portrait of Lord Shiva – noted as Unakotishwar Kal Bhairav. Apart from being in limelight for religious and raw offerings, the terrains draw tourists for hiking, trekking, and other adventure activities as well.

Tourist attractions: Sri Panch Deevata Mandir, Unokotiswara Kal Bhairava, Roman Catholic Church, Rao Wildlife Sanctuary.

Ambassa

Nestled in the recently budded district of Tripura in Dhalai, Ambassa is an untouched town honored for its temples, soothing ambiance, and picturesque views all around. The availability of natural riches here has not only made the region a popular tourist town but also laurelled it as one of the most enterprising zones.

Tourist attractions: Pilak, Chabimura, Neermahal Palace, Ujjayanta Palace, Pilak, Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary, Jagannath Temple, Dumboor Lake, Chabimura, Rosevalley National Park.

Melaghar

Melaghar is an exciting place, situated about 50 km away from Agartala, that holds out elation with natural artistry and ancient wonders. Acclaimed for Neermahal- an age-old aristocratic palace in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake and jollification of time-honored fairs like Durga Puja, Kali Puja, and Rath Yatra, Melaghar enthusiastically cherishes its primeval tradition.

Tourist attractions: Veeramma Kali Mandir, Melaghar Kali Temple, Ujjanta Temple, Pagli Masi Temple, Neermahal Temple, Anandabazar.

Udaipur

An erstwhile authoritative throne of Tripuri kings, Udaipur was initially named as Rangamati. Udaipur is famous as the “City of Temples” and also the “City of Lakes” as it is nestled on the chesterfield of fabricated lakes approx 55 km far from Agartala.

Tourist attractions: Tripura Sundari Temple, Bhuvaneshwari Temple, the ruins of Rajbari, Udaipur Railway Station, and artificial lakes – Dhani Sagar, Bijoy Sagar, Jagannath Dighi, Amar Sagar.

Jampui Hills

Faring from north to south in the eastern border of the state, Jampui hills are the top-notch highland in Tripura standing at a height of 3000ft. Marked off by Mizoram and colonized by the Lushai Mizo & the Reang tribes, Jampui Hills is famous for its panoramic landscape and pleasant atmospheric conditions.

Tourist attractions: Betlingchhip peak, scenic glimpses of Mizoram, Chittagong hill, orange orchards from October to December, wonderful and vivid orchids from March to May and half-baked greenery & fuzzy fog over the mountain in the wet weather from June to September.

Rajbari National Park

Stretched over 31.63 square kilometers in the Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary in Tripura, the Rajbari National Park is one of the most renowned National Parks in India. At one extreme, the delicacy and divinity of the Park baptize the journeyer in infinite peace & placidity, and at another extreme, hitch a ride on safari offers an all-together awestruck adventure experience.
