With rich cultural and historical backgrounds, the societies of Telangana are incredibly opulent in art and diverse languages. Telangana has a rich religious culture of Buddhism and is a vibrant social entity from the time of Buddha.   

 

History 

 

Telangana acquired the status of individual state on 2nd June 2014. The people of the Telangana region fought for years to acquire the status of a separate state with their own governing body for their land. With time and effort, the Telangana region was formed by passing the AP State Reorganization Bill. 

  

Places to Visit

Hyderabad  

Hyderabad is famous for its old city and iconic landmark Charminar. The place is also known as “city of pearls” attracts tourists with its tangy taste of Biryani. Cyberabad- A High-tech city in Hyderabad is also gaining popularity in the techno-rich era we are surviving today. With a rich heritage and magnificent mosques, this high tech city is showing IT advancement among the trance-inducing architectures. 

 

Tourist attractions: Charminar, Golconda Fort, Ramoji Film City, Hussain Sagar Lake, Birla Mandir, Jala Vihar  

Time to visit: September – March.  

  

Papikondalu  

Papikondalu is a range of beautiful mountains that starts from the river Godavari and showcases scenic beauty and viewpoints. It is an amazing weekend destination and a true delight for adventure-seekers to explore the beauty of nature, sense the bliss away from city distraction and enjoy the adventure activities like trekking, hiking among the twists & turns of Papi slopes. 

 

Tourist attractions: Papikondalu National Park, PapiKondalu Hills, Gandi Pochamma Temple, Perantapalli Village, Jamalapuram Temple  

Time to visit: October – March.  

  

Warangal  

The city of Warangal is the fifth largest city in Telangana and is famous for its cultural and infrastructural attractions to those of kings and queens’ kingdoms. There are many beautiful historical sites in Warangal that set the totter in the legendary era of incredible kings. For the visual treat, the place has mesmerizing natural scenes & beauty with Parkhal Lake.

  

Tourist attractions: Pakhal Lake, Thousand Pillar Temple, Ramappa Temple, Warangal Fort, Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhadrakali Temple

Nagarjuna Sagar  

The town of Nagarjuna Sagar is nestled on the river Krishna and has the famous & world’s tallest masonry dam – Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. The town holds a great history of Buddhist Civilization and the people of the town are mainly engaged in the occupation of agriculture. A combination of impressive human-made wonder and fascinating panoramic & lush green landscapes makes it a sight to lay eyes on.

 

Tourist attractions: Ethipothala Waterfalls, Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, Nagarjunasagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Nagarjunakonda Museum, Macherla.  

Time to visit: October – March.  

  

Adilabad  

Adilabad was earlier known as Edulapuram, it is famous for its beautiful waterfalls and the luscious forest. This small town of Telangana is rich in its culture of Telugu and Marathi. Leftover renowned relics, an array of beautiful temples & mosques and rich flora and fauna in the dense forest, make the place a beautiful destination to behold.

 

Tourist attractions: Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary, Kunthala Waterfalls, Pochera Waterfalls, Shivaram Wildlife Sanctuary, Mahatma Gandhi Park, Jainath Temple.   

Time to visit: November – March.  

 

Nalgonda  

The history of Nalgonda goes back to the Paleolithic age and it is famous for the Neolithic culture that existed here. The name Nalgonda means the Black Hills that indicates the presence of intriguing sling stones adorning the region with something extra-ordinary. Today, the city is a blend of diverse cultures and traditions.  

 

Tourist Attraction: Nandikonda, Mattapalli, Panagal, Kunda Satyanarayana Kala Dhamam, Bhuvanagiri Fort, Yadagiri Gutta  

Time to Visit: The best time to visit Nalgonda is November – February.  

 

Bhadrachalam 

Bhadrachalam is a pleasant and peaceful city nestled beside the river Godavari and famous for blissful temples like Sita Ramachandraswamy, Abhaya Anjaneya temple. The presence of instances from the Ramayana makes Bhadrachalam a refreshing and glorious haven to feel the vibrancy of the river, liveliness of the terrain, and gaiety of the ambiance.  

 

Tourist attraction: PapiKondalu Hills, Parnasala, Sabari, Abhaya Anjaneya Swamy Temple, City Shopping, Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple  

Time to visit: The best time to visit Bhadrachalam is September – April.  

 

Nizamabad  

Nizamabad is the third-largest city of the state of Telangana and is situated at the northwest end of the state. Nizamabad is a combination of two Urdu words that individually refers to the Nizams of Hyderabad and Longlife. Emerged as an important metropolitan suburb, the city lays out an attractive combo of rich history, religion, and natural assets such as rivers, lakes, etc.  

 

Tourist attraction: Pocharam Wildlife Sanctuary, Mallaram Forest, Alisagar, Nizamsagar, Neelakanteshwara Temple, Ashoksagar,
